ABOUT JLP PHOTOGRAPHY

Like most photographers, photography started as a hobby for me. I was inspired to purchase a camera (Pentax SLR 35mm film) while working at a photo lab in 1999. My first subjects were the ducks at the nearby park and my siblings. Countless rolls of film were exposed and hundreds of pictures were printed before I discovered digital photography. Aah...instant gratification.
I believe that, although both are important, developing the passion for the art of photography should come first and learning the technicalities should come second. A camera is only a tool. In Wedding Photography, you must capture the array of emotions of someone’s special day, which requires a keen personal attention to the surroundings, the moments, and the details.
When I’m not shooting weddings and portraiture, I enjoy capturing the beautiful scenery of the island of Kauai and hiking trails which can only be reached by foot, leading to unique vantage points and amazing views.
